There was a minutes silence for the wife of Kevin Jones, Jill, who passed away last week.
Our condolences go out to Kevin and all his family.

"Swans secure all the points"
Staines v Havant
James Robinson against Havant.

Staines Swans finally played their much anticipated league match against Havant, along the way scoring 5 tries and earning a bonus point.
The game did not start well for the Swans, with Havant back row Dom Bellman grabbing a well worked try after only 7 mins of the game played. Stand off, Joel Knight adding the extras.
The home side slowly got back into the game with Center Chris Wells providing some comfort with a penalty 30m out on the 26 min mark. This was from a dynamic break by prop Tom Jones that was only thwarted by Havant not releasing on the tackle.
With the half coming to an end coaches Greg Knights and Rich Mahony new they had only a small window of opportunity to get their message across to the players.
Staines v Havant
Greg Knights getting his point across.

Their message must have been spot on. With only 2 mins on the clock of the second half after some clever forward play, the ball was spun wide for James Cornish to score in front of a packed clubhouse and to the delight of all.
With the extras missed, Havant attacked hard from the restart trying to get a grip back on the game. Staines led by captain Tom Cleary drove hard and fast into the Havant half. With the away team scrambling to defend the attack referee Simon Dodd awarded the Swans a penalty. Wells calmly dissected the post, to take the score to 11-7 with 30 mins still to play.
From the restart Staines gave away a Penalty after being adjudged to "have blocked" a player coming around. Havant captain Grant Morris had no hesitation in giving the ball to Knight who duly kicked the points.
Dramatic stuff, with the scores now at 11-10 there was some real urgency from both teams to "go forward". The game changed on the 70th min when referee Dodd yellow carded Havant wing Dan Pope for "killing the ball".
Staines v Havant
John Kinnell winning the line out.

From a well-worked line out just in side the away team half wing Lewis Pruce cut a line and showed some dexterous feet to score in the corner. With a great roar the crowd came alive to lift the team and it showed. Just 2 mins later prop Tom Jones picked up a loose ball on the Havant 10 meter line and raced in to score under the post to choruses of "why why why Delilah" from the crowd. Chris Wells adding the extras, to take the score to a now respectable 27-10.
Being urged on by all for the much needed bonus point, Staines forwards picked and drove into the heart of the Havant 22 meters. Where upon England U18 open side Gus Jones scored a deserved try under the post, to the delight of his teammates.
Kit Cox who had done a great job in the set piece came off to make way for debutant prop Matt Newman.
The pressure was getting too much for the away team and indiscipline was creeping in. On the 77 mins ref Dodd had no choice but to yellow card Havant Don Francis and Swans impressive debutant Mark Cornell for a fracas off the ball.
The game took another dramatic twist when referee Dodd had no choice again but to show Havant stand off Joel Knight and hooker Pete Austin Red cards as well as Swans prop Tom Jones. This was after an ugly incident that put 2 Staines players in hospital.
Now with Havant down to 12 players the Swans launch another attack into the opposition half, were Chris Bishay stepped and popped the ball for Lewis Pruce to score in the corner. This took the score to a respectable and decisive 41-10, much to the delight of Knights, Mahony and all who came to support.
