Cleary powers resurgent Swans to Victory
Staines Swans played the game of their season so far, something they had been threatening to produce on many occasions in this campaign.
The Swans out played and out scored by two tries to none, a Dorking team who came into this game as the form team. Staines put in an impressive display of controlled attack and organized defence to secure the 23-9 defeat of Dorking.

The home side got off to a strong start, driving downfield with the wind behind them to get to gain the territory and possession needed for Chris Wells to take his first 3 points of the day.
This set up the tempo Staines had been looking for all season. It was not long before Chris Bishay crossed the white wash to score a well-worked try. With Wells adding the extras, The Swans were looking good in their 10-0 lead after only 10 mins.
Dorking were very strong at the set piece, forcing the home side pack to concede penalties and eventually Referee Jonathan Tatum had no choice but to produce the yellow card at the scrummage. The impressive back rower Gus Jones being sin-binned by Tatum for a late challenge, only 11 mins later, compounded this.
Staines stepped up during this period of lesser manpower, restricting the visitors to just 3 points from Dorking No 9 Richard Lang.
Greg Knights wasted no time taking the players off for a well-needed break and regrouping at 13-6 in the lead.

Back to a full compliment, Staines started the second half the stronger more wanting side against an increasing wind. Driving hard into the Dorking half resulting in a well earned try for Captain Tom Cleary from some impressive sustained pressure from the Swans pack directed by the impressive Jason Lee at half back.
The home crowd got behind the team with the score at 20-6, hungry for the upset.
Handling errors from the Dorking backline compounded by several turnovers from Jones and John Kinnell allowed the home side to dictate the game. With Chris Wells again taking the opportunities that came his way, calmly taking his haul of points to 13 for the game in the 65 min dissecting the uprights. Dorking could only reply with 2 more penalties from Lang.

The game ended a deserved win for the home side, who worked extremely well together for 80 minutes.
The man of the match was Chris Wells whose strong carrying from the center and kicking was invaluable, but all players from 1-18 played their part well.
