National League 3 London & SE

Head Coach Greg Knights left the Reeves on Saturday night shell shocked at a result that leaves Staines rugby club 3rd from bottom in National league 3.

The game started well for the home team, wearing their new strip in front of a good crowd of expectant rugby supporters.
The home crowd did not have long to wait, when on the 4min mark the Staines Wing Jamie Staniforth broke through a scrabbled defencensive line. His charge for the line was only halted with some frantic tackling. On his shoulder in support was big Junior Harrison to take the ball and score across the try line. With Chris Wells adding the conversion.
With the long journey now shaken out of there legs, Tonbridge roared into life. When with 10 mins on the clock, the away teams winger Thor Norman scored a brilliant try out wide from a scrum on the Staines 22m.
TJ's capt Charlie Harding stepped up to kick the conversation. Harding kicked 2 more penalties from inside the Swans half before a good line break by TJ's No8 Toby Martin helped Dan Rothnie to score under the post on the 26th minute.
Staines were now struggling to get a platform, especially at the set piece, with TJ's prop Carl Ambrose uncompromising approach at scrum time.
Michael Forster playing at fly half for Staines put in a try saving tackle just as half time was approaching to deny the away team another break away try.
Before referee Simon Dodd could blow the half time whistle, TJ's outstanding open side supported a line break out wide to score in the corner. This took the teams into a well earned break at 7-27 to the visitors.

The second half was all Tonbridge with Open side Mase Leuluniu running in a brace of tries to complete his hat trick.
Staines had to make the changes because of injuries to prop Kit Cox and hooker James Filbey who went of just after half time to replaced by Luke Charlton and Matt Thomas moving up to the front row. This strengthened up the scrum and gave Staines a strong platform, to launch attacks at the TJ's goal line. The away team where to well organized to allow Staines to cross the white wash.
Tonbridge ran in 2 more tries with Harding kicking well for the visitors only missing 2 conversions all day.
Final result 7-53 to Tonbridge Juddians.

This was a disappointing day for Staines who have been putting in some stern performances of late but the fact is that the Swans have lost 5 games in a row.
