Staines in the Pink!
Staines in the Pink!
Ladies Day Update.
A huge thank you for all your efforts in supporting the Ladies Day and Breast Cancer Care charity on Saturday. I hope everyone enjoyed the day and will return to cheer on the boys in the future.

As you may know Staines player Duncan McDermid works for Breast Cancer Care and is currently working on a proposal to get all rugby clubs in the UK to hold a fundraising day like we did on Saturday. The project is called Tackled Pink and it was really helpful for him to pilot elements of this at Staines to see what worked and what didn't.
Off the back of this Harlequins, Bedford and Scarlets have all agreed to hold Tackled Pink events this October, so we should take pride in the fact that Staines RFC were the first club to hold a pink day and have helped to pave the way for others.
The event raised around £200 and will be used to support those who are affected by breast cancer. Each year 50,000 women and 400 men (yes men can get breast cancer too) are diagnosed with breast cancer and the charity are here to support them every step of the way.
The 1st XV result aside, it was a great weekend for the club with 3 teams playing (hard fought draw for the 2nd XV 17-17 and a good win for the Ducks away at Basingstoke), great support and a busy clubhouse - long may this continue.
Special thanks to Duncan's wife Laura for coming straight from netball and giving up her afternoon (not even able to enjoy the rugby!) to provide all the ladies in attendance with beauty treatments that I know were greatly appreciated.

The next player driven event will be a Halloween spectacular on Saturday 22nd October. Keep a look out for more information with tickets on sale soon through all senior players and from the bar. It promises to be a great night, support your club and get involved.
