No luck for the Swans!
After a shaky start letting in a converted try on 5 mins, the Swans new they had a game on their hands. Irish went a further try 3 points up on the first quarter.
With both teams missing penalty kicks, it was left to the Staines power house scrimmaging to launch No 8 Chris West in on the 35th min to score out wide his 8th try of the season.
At 8-13 trailing at the interval, Head Coach Greg Knights with limited time had to enforce that the Swans "needed a big second 40", to get the result needed to secure the home win.
Their call was answered as they took firm control of the set scrum led by captain Tom Cleary, gave debutant and former Wasps wing Chris Bishay a chance to put the game level.
Two penalties by Chris Wells put the Swans ahead.
Some harsh penalty calls and a yellow card against Staines open side Adam Mursai, was only the difference between the sides.
Until the closing moments of the game, with Staines leading 19-16. London Division U20 George Owens broke away from at turn over in the must win lineout for Staines, to score an unconverted try in the corner.
It was the luck of the Irish that stole a result for the away team from what should have been a jubilant day for Staines.
